Challenger Water Well Pressure Tank by Flexcon

The Challenger pressure tank combines high performance and designer appeal. The almond-colored two-part polyurethane paint finish over an epoxy undercoating provides UV and salt spray protection. Efficient and cost-effective, the Challenger pressure tank is designed with a patented controlled action, double diaphragm tank assembly that completely contains storage water in a pre-charged air atmosphere. This air buffer design means fewer problems with condensation.

Challenger tanks have a threaded nut for easy installation of a water pump stand, a stainless steel elbow and an adjustable air charge. Clean, airtight welds are achieved using the most modern welding equipment available.

Our tank diaphragms are constructed with an FDA approved highgrade butyl. Flexcons positive lock internal clench ring system cannot slip and does not rely on the tank wall.  The tank contains a stainless steel port diffuser, and water connection which directs flow upward and outward while locking the lower diaphragm in place.

All of Flexcons quality tanks are backed by a five year written, limited warranty. Challenger tanks are quality tested at four different stages on the production line. Tests include helium and high pressure tests to ensure the structural integrity of every pressure tank.

Water Tanks - White - Premium Weight

Premium Weight water tanks are thicker and will last longer than light duty tanks.  Shapes include vertical cylinder, PCO, pickup truck, free standing and horizonal leg with optional U bolt tie downs.  The vertical water tanks offer the largest gallonage selections.  Norwesco vertical tanks feature tie-down slots, built-in graduated gallon indicators, an offset fill-opening and a self-vented, slosh-proof lid.  Above ground vertical Norwesco tanks will be provided with a bulkhead fitting installed as standard, but may also be ordered without a fitting or in special sizes.  Premium weight tanks can be special ordered in yellow, blue, dark green or black for a small addition.  Black and dark green in particular keep out light to help prevent water bourne algae growth.  For this reason white potable water tanks may want to be kept indoors out of UV light, but protection from UV light will help all polyethylene tanks last longer.

Steel Fabricated Discharge Heads

Fabricated steel discharge heads for vertical turbine pumps offer several advantages over cast iron discharge heads. Each fabricated head is custom designed to application specifications and has a unique feature set.  For example, fabricated heads for canned turbines feature special centerlined inlets and outlets above grade to connect your piping up to.  Things like sounding tubes and transducer ports can placed exactly where needed. In general fabricated discharge heads are heavier duty than cast discharge heads and will support more weight down the well, and larger motors fixed to the top of them. They are less inclined to cracking. The heavy solid weight of a fabricated discharge head provides a solid support to keep your mission critical pump motor running more smoothly than a lighter cast discharge. While fabricated discharge heads do require longer lead times and more up-front cost on your initial investment, the added features and benefits are often worth the upgrade. Because fabricated discharge heads are custom designed they are also useful to replace cast iron pump discharges that are no long manufactured.

FEATURES:

6" Canned Design Motor Features

• Replaceable Plug-in Motor Lead - All 6" motor leads are stranded copper for flexibility and strength. Leads are 150" long and field replaceable.
• Insulation - The canned motor's stator coil is mounted in a stainless steel frame and is completely sealed in a stainless steel cylinder. The coil wire features moisture resistant insulation which is completely water-proofed for long life.
• Heat Resistant - The space between the stator's stainless steel protective can and its frame is filled with a specially formulated patented resin that protects the motor against thermal fluctuation and internal stress.
• 95º F (35º C) Water Temperature (CANNED TYPE: 6", 5 - 50 HP) - The motors operate with a minimum flow rate of 0.5 ft./sec. (0.15 m/sec) in water temperature up to 95º F (35º C) without any derating of horsepower. This 95º F (35º C) temperature is 18º F (10º C) higher than NEMA standards.

8-10" Rewindable Water-Tight Motor Features

• Insulation Wire - The coil conductor insulation material is a specially developed denatured polypropylene, which offers excellent leak-resistant characteristics. Three barriers are applied to the copper conductors to provide complete insulation against the motor's cooling fluid. This design is the result of extensive research and is of superior quality. It insures that CentriPro motors will have an extremely long service life. Motor Features - Both Designs
• Sand Resistant Slinger and Lip Seals - CentriPro submersible motors feature double-row, grease packed, lip seals to prevent sand from entering the motor. A carbon steel slinger with a baked on epoxy coating prevents sand from entering the lip seal area. Additional protection against sand intrusion is provided by the close tolerance slinger guide with a .02" fit. This design is field-proven in West Texas wells which are considered to be some of the worst sandy well applications. Best of all, these features are standard for a CentriPro motor, so there is no need to stock one motor for clean wells and another more
expensive motor for the more abrasive, sandy jobs.
• High Torque Characteristics - The stator laminations are constructed of high quality, electrical grade, silicon steel which provide high torque even when the motor is subjected to nominal voltage variations.
• Balancing - The rotor balance rings (one on each end of the rotor) allow for excellent dynamic balance for the rotating element of the motor.
• Carbon Sleeve Bearings - Two carbon, water-lubricated, guide bearings are used to properly align the shaft. The bearings have a large surface area to better support the shaft, reducing whipping, while acting as a steady bushing.
• Water-Filled Design - The internal cooling water is mixed with antifreeze and antirust liquid to allow the motor to be stored at -22º F (-30º C). Two water plugs are provided for filling or draining the antifreeze fluid during maintenance. These plugs are also used to top off and to check the water level.
• Complete Corrosion and Water-Tight Protection - All main motor components are made of stainless steel: including the can housing (water tight type motors have baked epoxy coated carbon steel housings), shaft and bolts. All other motor parts are finished with the baked epoxy coating.
• Baked Epoxy Coating - All external and internal cast iron parts are coated with a baked epoxy resin that provides excellent resistance to water and corrosion.
• Quality Control - All CentriPro submersible motors are manufactured and tested under the most stringent quality control procedures, providing long service life and trouble-free operation.

A Premium Weight water tank is thicker and will last longer than a light duty tank.  Shapes include vertical cylinder, PCO, pickup truck, free standing and horizonal leg with optional U bolt tie downs.  The vertical water tank offers the largest gallonage selections.  Norwesco vertical tank features tie-down slots, built-in graduated gallon indicators, an offset fill-opening and a self-vented, slosh-proof lid.  An above ground vertical Norwesco tank will be provided with a bulkhead fitting installed as standard, but may also be ordered without a fitting or in special sizes.  A Premium weight tank can be special ordered in yellow, blue, dark green or black for a small addition.  Black and dark green in particular keep out light to help prevent water bourne algae growth.  For this reason a white potable water tank may want to be kept indoors out of UV light, but protection from UV light will help any color polyethylene tank last longer.

The Cla-Val Model 90-01/690-01 Pressure Reducing Valve automatically reduces a higher inlet pressure to a steady lower downstream pressure, regardless of changing flow rate and/or varying inlet pressure. This valve is an accurate, pilot-operated regulator capable of holding downstream pressure to a pre-determined limit. When downstream pressure exceeds the pressure setting of the control pilot, the main valve and pilot valve close drip-tight.

If a check feature is added, and a pressure reversal occurs, the downstream pressure is admitted in the main valve cover chamber, closing the valve to prevent return flow.

Typical Applications

Typical applications include pressure reducing valve station using Model 90-01BY/690-01BY and Model 90-01AS/690-01AS in parallel to handle wide range of flow rates. Larger Model 90-01BY/690-01BY valve meets requirements of peak loads and smaller Model 90-01AS/690-01AS handles low flows.
